7-Star Challenge Week 16

This is really only posted in the interest of full disclosure. I can draw hands (they’re in the gallery in various pieces), but today, specifically, I could not, so I ended up with the lumpy, weird thing you see here. There are so many diffferent ways that hand sucks, I can’t enumerate them. I don’t care. it’s almost midnight and I’ve been busy. Ironically, busy drawing. Not sure how that’s supposed to work. Apparently I’m drawing so much that I can’t put out good pieces for the exercise expressly intended to improve my art.

Anyway, when I’m not being busy and/or complaining about it, I’ve been playing my Dreamcast. I dug out Marvel vs. Capcom 2 this weekend. I originally thought I’d learn how to draw one of my characters in that style, but instead I merely learned that I can’t yet do it. No biggie. I will overcome and crap.

I am anticipating more of the latter, and less of the former for a while.

7-Star Challenge Week 15

This is one part of a quicky Gunstar Heroes triptych I’m making for kicks. I love Gunstar Heroes. That game is practically perfect. And it’s weird, which gets you a lot of Mike Points.

It’s funny…looking at this now, I think it would’ve been more successful as pixel art. I dunno. It might hold up better next to the other two components. We’ll see.

7-Star Challenge Week 14

My art, but NOT my original character: this guy belongs to a nice girl on DeviantArt named Ha-chan. She made me a piece featuring this guy, Jess, and I wanted to draw my version of him as a gift to her.

I know very little about drawing pretty guys, and I know even less about the female psyche, so this is probably a miss on many levels. But it is a triumph of simulated arm’s-length photography.

I don’t know what the checkerboard background is supposed to mean. I’m forced to assume he’s bored, with cameraphone, in a diner in catboy heaven.
