Project Duff Offer Getter 3

Color!

Color!

Technically, I already hit my PDOG requirement with that silly booby pic (it was about an hour, all told). So here’s the flesh scale I made to create the skin tones. The grayish colors on the end are my reflected lights, but depending on your light sources, they aren’t going to come out that brown-grey color every time. This is just what I used.

Apologies for the lack of straight lines between tones. But this is the cleanup. You should have  seen the version I actually used. Horrid.

You know what? I drew some more than I had to. Have a tree, too.

Note the lack of breasts in this picture.

Am I SFW?

It's not what it looks like. Oh. Actually it is.

It's not what it looks like. Oh. Actually it is.

It has occured to me that while I generally think of my portfolio/blog site as family-friendly, it actually does have some artsy nudity (or nothing-left-to-the-imagination outfits), some buxom lasses, and the odd swear word here and there. And of course, the thumbnail for this entry, which is a swear word away from being all of the above.

Still, I don’t know if that constitutes “objectionable” material. I’m certainly not offended by bustiness*. I also don’t draw pornographic material or discuss it in my blog, current blog post notwithstanding. Actually, this is shaping up to be my most risqué post ever, which should tell you something about the propriety-level of this site. I’d need to make major life changes just to upgrade to softcore.

You have to understand: my mom visits my site. Anything I post here is something I feel comfortable enough knowing Mom is going to see. So while she is certainly not timid, anything you see on here is still tame enough for my dear mother to view. Hell, my mom can probably handle more than me; I’m the one who’s embarrassed to go any further.

Having said that, I don’t think I need to tag nude or near-nude posts with NSFW** labels. Save for the above. Again.

But I’m not everyone, and I don’t know where the 12 of you (hi, fans!) are when you visit my site, so if you have an opinion, feel free to comment. It’s safe to say that my thumbnail pics will occasionally contain a nippleless boob or two.  Maybe even three. If this concerns you (the presence of boobs, not the odd quantity), let me know.

But you’ve been cool with it so far, so I don’t what your problem is! Oh, I’m sorry. Emotions are running high.

Complainers take note, though: you will have to live with the stigma that you’re not as tough as my mom.

Oh, and hi, Mom. Love you.

*Or lack thereof. I am an equal-opportunity bust enthusiast.

Project Duff Offer Getter 2

I'd appreciate it if you wouldn't look at my hand. Self-conscious, you see.

New PDOG entry. 2 days and a 100% completion rate so far. I know, I know. Hella impressive.

Gotta draw more hands. One is fine, but the more complicated of the two is truly, truly horrible. I can draw hands. You can see them in my gallery. But clearly I can’t do them well enough. More tomorrow. Hands and otherwise.

“Otherwise” in this case meaning “probably boobs”.

Project Duff Offer Getter 1

Stupid gestures. I hate gestures.

Stupid gestures. I hate gestures.

Okay, first official Project Duff Offer Getter (PDOG) entry. Nothing much to show, but it was good practice. I hate hate hate gesture drawings. Have since art school. If I had stuck with them, I’d probably be much better now, though, so the joke is on me. Maybe next time I’ll do actual “gestures” instead of women just milling about with their arms down.

The Official PDOG rules: 1) draw something every day in any medium. 2) Try to put in a half hour or more, but promise 5 minutes. 3) Post daily. Pretty simple. I’m running this till Sunday, May 16. That should be 28 entries. Okay. Off to bed. More sleep = better drawing = happier work life.

A new challenger approaches

So the writing is on the wall.

It’s been several months since I finished my 7-Star Challenge, and I’ve only drawn when A) paid, B)  for loved ones, or C) on those rare occasions when I couldn’t think of a video game to play*.  Sketching, save for recently, has been practically non-existent. As a result, I haven’t gotten any better since November.

In other news, Surprise just called and isn’t able to make it to this blog post.

So who has gotten better at drawing since November? Everyone else who is still drawing every week. That’s a bummer for me, anyway. Kudos to the artists it doesn’t apply to: you know who you are. Please note that I have vowed to destroy you. Good day.

Anyway, I have yet again reached the point where I won’t go and be fruitful unless under the watchful eye of the internet at all times. Also, I have some personal projects I REALLY need to start working on. Projects that might be my ticket to greatness and riches if I would just get off my duff and work on them.

Project Duff Offer Getter is go.

I’ll work up the rules tomorrow, but I’m thinking it’s going to be less stringent than the 7-Star Challenge, but greater frequency. I’m going to make this a daily exercise.

The last 7-Star was 23 weeks long, so I think we’ll make this project 4 weeks of daily entries, or 28 drawings. Technically, I’ll be producing more art in less time. If it goes well, I’ll extend it. I’ve done dailies before — did it for a whole year, in fact. Once you start cooking, it’s actually pretty addictive. I wish I hadn’t stopped, but alas, I, uh, did.

Okay. Resolution firmly in place, I go to bed. There is nothing worse than starting a new activity when all you want to do is nap after work.

*I just thought of one, by the way. Phantasy Star II. Never beat it.
