To celebrate 666 page views at DeviantArt. I account for about 500 of those, but it is a milestone nonetheless. I’ll have to link back from this site one of these days.

In the meantime, though, who has two thumbs and loves red, shiny boobs?*

&*#$@ Robots

So I’ve enabled comments, and it’s become clear that only robots read my blog. Not the adorable, loyal, huggable variety, either.<sup>1

“Let’s bake pie and snuggle!”</sup>

No. Instead, I get the boring, socially awkward ones. You can’t even hold a proper conversation with them.

Robot: “I enjoy looking for interesting articles on the internet!”
Me: “That’s good. I don’t write articles, though, I just kinda —”
Robot: “I think I’ve seen this somewhere before,”
Me: “Oh, I don’t think so, I —”
Robot: “but it is good!”
Me: “Um…thanks?”
Robot 2: “I like things that are good. We should discuss.”
Me: “Gah! Where’d you come from?”
Robot 3: “A superb article on Gah. I will bookmark it.”

Anyway, as a result, I may accidentally delete the occasional valid comment if you happen to sound like a (boring) robot. If doing this manually becomes too problematic, or my site traffic goes up, I’ll install Captcha, but I’m going to hold off for now.

I drew new GIFs of the 8bitartist Highwayman © for my “mood” PHP. You can now tell if I am angry or complacent at a glance. There is a small chance, however, that I just have a really itchy face.

Oh wait.

Covered.

If I develop more moods in real life, I’ll make some icons for those, too.

Comments are go

I fixed my PHP and styled the comments, so the 4 of you who visit my site can now complain retroactively about the lack of a commenting feature right here on my blog! Yay!

Site Updated. Again.

So instead of just grabbing a template and being done with it, (or mangling someone else’s template) I decided to just redo the site anyway. I have a little borrowed PHP, but all the CSS and the images are mine. Go me. Woo. (lackluster dancing)

Of course, I set off to get my site back up and running by the end of January, and it’s now mid-March and it’s still not fully live, so I’m not sure if I should really be patting myself on the back.

I’ll consult the checklist. Learned more about PHP? Check. Figured out how to do some neat tricks in CSS? Check. Improved as an artist and/or embraced fame and fortune?

Well, crap.

I may have put my eggs in the wrong basket. And this isn’t even a metaphor; in addition to not fostering my skills as an artist, I have apparently also lost my damn eggs.
